The summer might not have started yet, but the dedicated Birmingham German Christmas Market team are busy planning for this year’s festivities.

The dates for the 2024 return of the Frankfurt favourite have already been decided - and it’s going to be open longer than last year.

So there’ll be even more opportunities to enjoy a carol or two with the singing moose, glug some gluhwein and German beer while enjoying a bratwurst, schnitzel or other tasty German Christmas Market treat.

When is the 2024 German Christmas Market opening in Birmingham?

Without further ado - here’s all the information you’ll be wanting to pop onto your calendars to get ready for this year’s Frankfurt festivities - the 24th time it’s been held in Brum. The market will open on Friday, November 1 and will close on Tuesday, December 24 - that’s 54 days over seven weeks, which is one whole day longer than last year!

  • From Monday to Thursday each week it’ll be open from 11am to 9pm.
  • On Friday the opening hours are 11am to 9.30pm
  • On Saturday it’s 10am to 9.30pm and 
  • On Sunday the Birmingham German Christmas Market will be open from 10am to 9pm - but on Remembrance Sunday, which is on November 10, it won’t open until 1pm.

It has also been confirmed that the big wheel and ice rink will return to Centenary Square on Friday, November 1, opening between 10am and 10pm. A spokesperson for Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market said: “Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is a firm fixture in the city’s annual calendar and a massive favourite with both residents and visitors to the city from across the UK and Europe. “Birmingham comes alive every winter with the arrival of the Market, a clear sign that Christmas is just around the corner. The stalls on Victoria Square and along New Street offer something for everyone.

“The largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market offers a large range of traditional good and gifts and a selection of tempting food and drink. Pretzels, bratwursts, and roasted almonds will tempt your tastebuds, all of which can be washed down with gluhwein, weissbeer (wheat beer), or tasty hot chocolate.
