Exclusive photos show Birmingham's saved cinema after major £14m revamp - get cheap tickets this weekend

Experience Birmingham's cinema rebirth with a luxurious £14 million revamp and enjoy screenings for just £4.50 this weekend.

A Birmingham cinema brought back from the brink of closure has officially unveiled its luxury new look following a £14 million transformation.

The old Empire Cinema in Rubery’s Great Park was rescued by Omniplex Cinemas in December 2023, after Empire went into administration.

The Irish cinema chain reopened the doors to the public—and now it has completely revamped the site into a high-end cinema experience.

The 13-screen venue now features fully reclining seats, sofa beds in select screens, a sleek new luxury lounge, and upgraded food and drink offerings.

To celebrate, Omniplex is offering tickets from just £4.50 across all screenings this weekend (5–6 April).

In the lobby, a 23-foot airstream trailer styled like a movie set—Joe’s Food Truck— serves 24-inch pizzas, crispy fried chicken, burgers and more.

A Beer & Cocktail Van rounds out the new offerings, with everything from Espresso Martinis to Strawberry Daiquiris.

Omniplex Cinemas operates across the UK and Ireland, known for plush seating, cutting-edge projection, and premium hospitality. Tickets for upcoming films can be booked online at omniplexcinemas.co.uk or in person.
