Hi Barbie! It’s time to party in Birmingham. Barbie the doll by Mattel was already a global phenomemon and now the film helmed by Oscar-nominated director Greta Gerwig is turning it into an even bigger cultural spectacle that nobody can miss out on.
And, to celebrate the pink fiesta, there are several events taking place in and around Birmingham. From parties at cocktail bars to catching a screening of the film - it all involves dressing yourself up in the Barbiest way possible. Pink clothes, shoes, and maybe pink hair too - the sky’s the limit when you choose this way of life. For instance, this woman in the UK has modelled her entire life after Barbie. Her room, her clothes - everything is pink.
And, it’s not just for women because embracing our feminine side and celebrating ourselves is for everyone! However, if you want to be Barbie but only for one night, here are seven events in and around Birmingham to indulge yourself:
1. Barbie party at The Mockingbird Cinema
A fully independent cinema, The Mockingbird is nestled right in the heart of the Custard Factory, and it will be hosting several Barbie-themed parties to celebrate the film. So come dressed in your best pink outfits! The Barbie Themed Party Events are only Friday 21st July at 7pm, Saturday 22nd July at 7pm and Sunday 23rd July at 2pm. 2. Destination Barbie lands at Selfridges

3. Tonight Josephine
Birmingham to host ultimate Barbie party! For one night, they are hosting a night of wild partying Mattel style and the dress code is Barbie. Go dolled up as your very own Barbie and get a chance to win up to £150 worth of drinks. Live DJ, a Barbie drag host and favourite tracks from the movie, there’s going to be loads to indulge in. 4. BARBIE On The Pink Screen
Set in the heart of the LGBTQ+ village, The Village Inn is hosting a night of wild partying on July 21. Doors open at 7:30pm for a show start time of 8pm sharp. For Barbie On The Pink Screen, they’re giving out limited edition dolls. Join them for unboxing Barbie in her Hollywood starlet era with a perfectly manufactured cast of drag dolls (and Ken) hot off the shelves. (Photo - Google Maps)
