The August Bank Holiday weekend is almost here and coupled with the end of school summer holidays on their way, it’s a good time to be out and about in the city.
There’s no need to leave Birmingham if you’re looking for something to do - and there’s no need to spend any money eitther. And with the weather forecast to be mostly dry and sunny there’s no excuse not to get out and about.
Instead of letting the cost of living crisis stopping you from having a good time, you can check out these free events taking place across the city. And, most of them are family-friendly as well! No matter how old you are, there’s something engaging going on.
Birmingham city centre will come alive with dance, music, and more this weekend for Birmingham Weekender. From giant swings to daring aerial duets and life-sized retro arcade games, there’s something for everyone. Here are 10 free events taking place in Birmingham over the August Bank Holiday:
1. Birmingham Weekender 2023
Birmingham Hippodrome and Bullring & Grand Central’s Birmingham Weekender is returning to the city with a host of free events. The annual festival will take over the heart of the city with colourful installations, interactive experiences and energetic performances from some of the best local, national and international artists. 2. Escape Live
Escape Live is offering one child the opportunity become the business’s first Chief Escape Officer (CEO) and celebrate summer in style, with free entry to all of its six escape room attractions in Birmingham, Chelmsford, Liverpool, Coventry, Southend and Stratford-upon-Avon. As the company’s first official Chief Escape Officer, the chosen candidate and a guest can explore every venue and every experience for free throughout July and August, and includes free travel to all of its locations. 3. Bank Holiday Free Rave
The Berlin Bar in Digbeth, Birmingham is hosting a Bank Holiday Free Rave on August 26. With a stacked line up of Residents and their trademark Multi-Genre style (House/Garage/Bass/DnB), they are going to bring a night like no other. There are limited free tickets. 4. Bank Holiday 80s Night
At The Mason’s Arms on Solihull High Street, you will find classic pints, cask ales, showstopping cocktails, and pub food as well as a 80s themed night on Sunday August 27. And, it has free entry! (Photo - Google Maps)
