Tim Minchin live at Birmingham Hippodrome - Saturday and Sunday

The award-winning comedian, actor and composer Tim Minchin is bringing his BACK tour to Birmingham on 23 and 24 October.

His new show will include a set list of material from all corners of Minchin’s eclectic repertoire.

As usual, there’s plenty of fun to be had at The Night Owl this weekend.

The Blow Monkeys ‘40th Anniversary Tour - Saturday

With hits like Digging Your Scene and It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way, The Blow Monkeys epitomised the glamour of mid-80s pop at its most graceful and sophisticated. In the band’s frontman Robert Howard (aka Dr. Robert), they possessed a tall, charismatic singer who was both camera-friendly and clever, who appeared to be just as much at ease on the catwalk that is pop’s conveyor belt as he was penning witty, incisive songs.

The band will be playing at The Night Owl this Saturday.

Amy Winehouse Tribute, Marina Coombes - Friday

A Back to Black 15th anniversary special will be taking place on Friday with the ultimate Amy Winehouse tribute by Marina Coombes.

In a review by Jamie Alexander Marina has been described as the ‘best Amy Winehouse tribute going’.

“The scary uncanny thing is Marina sounds just like the real Amy which gives you goosebumps,” he said.

The Night Owl Takeover at The Old Crown - Saturday

On Saturday, The Night Owl takes over the beer garden at The Old Crown from 3pm until late. The Night Owl DJs will be spinning the best in Northern Soul, plus a bit of Motown, 60s RnB, Mod, ska and much more.

Milton Jones in Milton: Impossible at at The Alexandra - Sunday

Mock the Week star Milton Jones will reveal the truth about being an international spy when he arrives at The Alexandra this Sunday, before being given a disappointing new identity which forced him to appear on Live at the Apollo and Mock the Week.

Jones will be performing his hilarious new show at 7.30pm.

What’s New Pussycat? at Birmingham Repertory Theatre - Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Based on the true story of Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch), a British businessman who helped the CIA and MI6 penetrate the Soviet nuclear program during the Cold War, The Courier is a tale of bravery and heroic self-sacrifice.

Cumberbatch stars as the salesman-turned-spy who races against time to end the Cuban missile crisis.

The film is being screened at the Midlands Arts Centre this Friday.

China Bears live at the Sunflower Lounge - Saturday

Somerset four piece China Bears have spent the last few years touring the UK, with notable support slots for bands including Genghar, Geneva, The Howl & The Hum and many more.

The alternative indie rockers were selected as an official artist for SXSW 2020 in Austin, Texas and will be performing a headline show at the Sunflower this Saturday night.
