Oh, let me tell you about my delightful stay at Crewe Hall Hotel & Spa!
From the moment I drove up the grand, tree-lined avenue, I felt like I'd stepped into a period drama. Think Bridgerton meets Pride & Prejudice and then throw in a bit of Downton Abbey for good measure - it’s truly splendid.

Easy to get to from anywhere in the Midlands, just an hour from Birmingham and a short drive from the M6, we were there in no time - and ready to relax.

My room was a perfect blend of classic charm and modern comfort. The four-poster bed was so plush, I felt like royalty sinking into its embrace after a day of exploration. And speaking of exploration, the spa was an absolute haven! I indulged in a rejuvenating massage and facial and then lounged by the pool, feeling my stresses melt away.

History of Crewe Hall
Crewe Hall Hotel isn’t just a stunning place to stay - it’s a journey through history. Nestled in the Cheshire countryside, this grand Jacobean mansion dates back to 1615 when it was built for the influential Crewe family. With its striking architecture, intricate wood carvings, and impressive fireplaces, it has long been a symbol of wealth and power.
The hall has seen its fair share of drama over the centuries. It was badly damaged in a fire in 1866 but was beautifully restored, blending its historic charm with Victorian elegance. During World War II, it played a vital role as a military hospital, before eventually transforming into the luxurious hotel we know today.

Hide AdFrom 1939 - 1946 Crewe Hall was occupied by the War Department and many Australian, Canadian and American troops were housed in the Hall at various times throughout the last three years of military occupation. It was used as a prisoner of war camp for over 2,000 high ranking German officers.
Prior to 1922 when the Crewe family left, there would have been around 100 servants in the hall - it had 190 rooms. There were 20 gardeners growing all the produce for the house in the 3 walled garden and there was the Home Farm which had approximately 50 farms and 200 cottages in the immediate locality.
In 1931 when this type of living was on the decline and mainly because Lord Crewe had no heir to the title, only two daughters, he offered the Hall and the surrounding estates to Cheshire County Council, but they declined the offer. Lord Crewe eventually sold the Hall and the bulk of the estate to the Duchy of Lancaster in 1936.
In 1955 Her Majesty The Queen, together with the Duke of Edinburgh visited Crewe Hall in her capacity as Duke of Lancaster, whilst touring the Duchy Estates in Cheshire.
