Birmingham traffic: Motorists told to use 'other modes of transport' as congestion builds in city centre

Motorists are being warned of congestion on the roads in and around Birmingham city centre this Saturday afternoon.

Delays have been building through the afternoon with further congestion being seen just before Dartmouth Circus through to Holloway Circus.

There has also been congestion and delays on the A38 Southbound as well as in Digbeth on the approaches to, and around, the gyratory.

Moat Lane has also seen congestion and delays as cars queue for the Bull Ring Car Park

A spokesman for West Midlands Roads said: “If you're thinking of travelling to the city centre, consider other modes of transport.”

At around 6pm it was reported: “30 mins plus delays now on the A38 Southbound, from Aston Expressway/Park Circus through to Holloway Circus. There's also further congestion from fans exiting Villa Park.

“Police on Holloway Circus are attempting to clear traffic, impacted by junction blocking”.
