Birmingham road closures: nine for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight from October 14

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

Five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M6, from 9pm August 3 to 6am November 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, carriageway closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

• A4097, from 9pm August 14 to 6am December 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 5 to junction 3, carriageway, slip road, link road and lane closures for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

• A446, from 6am February 12 to 6am December 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 8, carriageway, slip road, link road and lane closures due to technology works, diversion via National Highways network.

• M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

• M6, from 6am January 12 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Hard shoulder closures with 50mph speed restriction for maintenance works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M5, from 9pm October 14 to 6am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 3 to junction 2, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M6, from 9pm October 15 to 6am October 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, Hard shoulder closure for maintenance works.

• M5, from 9pm October 15 to 6am October 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 3 to junction 2, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M5, from 9pm October 24 to 6am October 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, jct three to Frankley Services, Lane closure for maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
