Where is the best place to visit in Birmingham if you’ve never been to the city before?

Birmingham is home to some of the most amazing landmarks in the UK. Brummies are a humble bunch and do have a tendency to talk the city down from time to time, but we thought we’d put them to the test and find out where in the city they’d recommend to outsiders who are here to visit.
I got a whole host of fun answers when I took my camera out onto the streets of the city centre to ask the people of the city for their travel tips. Some replies really made me laugh.

Danielle says: “Broad Street - party life. Banging! Aidan says: “No you need to go somewhere Brummie as… Soho Road! I’m telling you. Catch the 74 through Soho Road and you will experience life in a different world.”
Ramma says: “Soho Road. Coventry Road in Small Heath. Ladypool Road - mad tings. These ends.” David says: “The new library. I’ve never been, but I’ve heard it’s really good!”
Callum says: “For me, it’s going to be the Bullring. It seems a bit…. But for someone who’s outside Birmingham, you’d always hear of the Bullring - oh it’s this big shop!

“So the idea of the Bullring from someone on the outside - it was that for me. Go shopping in the Bullring. You definitely get to see people from Birmingham while you’re there!”

Dee says: “Birmingham city centre’s the landmark. And why? Because there’s so much history. There’s lots of culture and people are nice.
“It’s not like London where you ask someone directions and they don’t want to speak to you. No - they’ll stop and they’ll give you their time. So yeah, Birmingham city centre is your landmark. Yeah, definitely.”
