The Panthers will now train at the University’s state-of-the-art high-performance suites, utilising world-class facilities, court space, and performance services to hone their competitive edge.

The partnership was marked by a Panthers and Nottingham Forest battling in a pre-season friendly at the Walsall campus on Sunday, which saw the Panthers soar to victory.

But this partnership is about more than elite sports facilities. It’s a bridge between academia and professional sport, offering students hands-on industry placements in strength and conditioning, sports therapy, and performance analysis.

These opportunities will arm students with invaluable skills and real-world experience in a high-performance environment.

Panthers Head Coach Jo Trip is thrilled about the potential this partnership unlocks: “This is about building a world-class performance environment while empowering the next generation of talent. By combining the Panthers’ vision with the University’s academic excellence, we’re setting a foundation for the future of netball and empowering women and girls to thrive in sport.”

James Dale, Head of the School of Sport at the University of Wolverhampton, echoed her enthusiasm: “We’re delighted to collaborate with the Birmingham Panthers. This partnership not only enhances our students’ learning experience but also aligns with our mission to champion performance excellence and create a lasting community impact.”

The excitement kicks off on 21 March when the Panthers take on Manchester Thunder in their first home game under the new partnership. Fans can expect an electric atmosphere and a game day experience that mirrors the Panthers’ mission to redefine netball as dynamic, inclusive, and unforgettable.
