The early team news and injury updates ahead of Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head into this weekend’s fixture away at Everton with a point to prove after losing their first two Premier League fixtures of the season.

Gary O’Neil was thrown in at the deep end with a couple of really tough games against Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion. Now, he has the most winnable match so far – on paper at least.

Everton have also lost both of their games so far and they’ve been by very similar scorelines. It was a narrow 1-0 defeat against Fulham on the opening day then a 4-0 thrashing from Aston Villa.

Wolves are in superb shape as just one player is unavailable on Saturday and that’s not even down to an injury. The sole absentee is Matheus Nunes after his late red card against Brighton.

Ruled out: Nunes.

The Toffees couldn’t really be much more contrasting to Wanderers as they have at least six squad members ruled out for certain and a further two with doubts over their heads.

Club legend Seamus Coleman remains out until the end of October with a serious knee injury, while Dele Alli is expected back after the international break on his road to recovery.

Summer signing Jack Harrison is yet to train with his teammates but could make his debut in a few weeks’ time, whereas Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss out with a facial injury.

Alex Iwobi, who went off injured against Villa, has hurt his hamstring. “It’s not going to be days – a few weeks, I think – but we’ll wait and see how that heals,” Sean Dyche said on Thursday.

Fellow winger Dwight McNeil, who has been unavailable for months with an ankle problem, has been “back on the light stuff” in training but yet to fully gain strength again.

To round things off, central midfielder Andre Gomes faces a late fitness test with a tight calf and striker Youssef Chermiti is a doubt due to a lack of fitness since signing.

Ruled out: Coleman, Alli, Harrison, Calvert-Lewin, Iwobi, McNeil. Doubts: Gomes, Chermiti.
