Wolverhampton Wanderers return to home soil on Saturday afternoon as they play host to fellow relegation battlers AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. Wolves head into the game full of confidence having turned things around with 10 men to earn a vital three points at Southampton last week.

Winter signing Joao Gomes scored a very late winner with a terrific strike at St Mary’s, soaring Julen Lopetegui’s side five points clear of the bottom three. Bournemouth, meanwhile, held Champions League hopefuls Newcastle United to a 1-1 draw last weekend but the Cherries are without a win in their last seven.

Powerhouse midfielder Mario Lemina is suspended for this weekend’s clash after picking up two yellows and being sent off in the 2-1 win at Southampton. Top scorer Daniel Podence (groin) is a doubt after missing that particular trip down south but there is hope he can be in contention.

Lopetegui will have to make do without energetic winger Hwang Hee-chan for the foreseeable future as he pulled up with a hamstring injury in the 3-0 home victory against Liverpool. “For a lot of weeks were are going to lose him. He is going to be out and it’s a pity,” Lopetegui said after beating Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Boubacar Traore will have to wait to make his way into the new manager’s plans as he is continuing his recovery from surgery on a groin problem. The Malian could be back in March. Long-term absentees Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic (both knee) will likely return in May and pre-season respectively.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, have four players ruled out until at least the end of February. Defensive duo Illia Zabarnyi (ankle) and Lloyd Kelly (calf) are unavailable for selection, whereas Gary O’Neil will have to leave out David Brooks (fitness) and Junior Stanislas (unknown).

Marcos Senesi, who scored the opener in the Cherries’ 1-1 draw with Newcastle, is being assessed ahead of the clash after picking up a knock to his back in that particular fixture. O’Neil is hopeful that central midfielder Lewis Cook (knee) can be involved, though he does remain doubtful.

Ruled out: Lemina, Hwang, B. Traore, Chiquinho, Kalajdzic (WOL); Zabarnyi, Kelly, Brooks, Stanislas (BOU).

Doubts: Podence (WOL); Senesi, Cook (BOU).
