Wolves v Arsenal: Premier League injury news as 6 ruled out and 2 doubts

Wolves host title-chasing Arsenal at Molineux in a Premier League fixture on Saturday evening.

The Gunners suffered a major blow to their title ambitions on Sunday after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Wolves’ West Midlands rivals Aston Villa. Mikel Arteta's men are two points behind Man City who have hit form at the right time.

A day earlier, Wolves drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest. Matheus Cunha scored twice as he first put Wolves in front before getting them level after Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo had netted for the Reds.

The table after the results of Gameweek 32 left Wolves in 11th, a point off of Brighton in the top-half of the table whilst Fulham and Bournemouth both on 42 points, just a point behind Wolves. Ahead of what is another big weekend of action, here’s the latest injury and team news.

Wolves team news

Rayan Ait-Nouri is a doubt after he was absent against Nottingham Forest. Gary O'Neil took him to the City Ground and despite saying he'd envisage him playing a part, he didn’t. Gary O’Neil said he could be among the substitute’s and so that at least rules him out from starting.

The manager admitted that Hwang hee-chan is only capable of playing 45 minutes, which could lead him to being a substitute. The South Korean international has only just returned from a hamstring injury and it’ll be a dilemma over whether he is named in the starting 11 or comes on at half-time.

Nelson Semedo will be missing. His hamstring tightened up towards the end of the match against Forest and he had to be replaced by Tawanda Chirewa. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde isn’t fit enough yet to return to the pitch having spent most of the month out injured. A knee injury has forced him to miss the last five games and he’s not available once more.

A hamstring injury has Pedro Neto ruled out until mid-May. It is his second of the campaign and he suffered that in March. His potential return date is Wolves' penultimate fixture against Crystal Palace.

Craig Dawson is another absentee after O'Neil revealed that he was playing through the pain barrier. A groin injury meant that Dawson was left on the bench and he hasn't played since the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United at the start of March, and he will now undergo surgery to address the problem.

Matheus Cunha is the newest absentee in what is a big blow. Cunha picked up a knock on his calf against Forest. He is the club’s leading goal scorer this season and so his absence will be felt.

Arsenal team news

Arsenal don’t have too many injuries to worry about. Jurrien Timber has been out for the whole of the campaign but is closing in on a return. He was seen in training and could play for the first team next month after a spell with the under-21s.

Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard were both doubtful going in to Arsenal’s Champions League tie with Bayern Munich. Both players featured and will be available at the weekend.
