Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the lookout for more January signings to follow Matheus Cunha as new manager Julen Lopetegui looks to make his mark at Molineux. The former Real Madrid head coach has enjoyed a decent start to life in the West Midlands, with one win, a draw and a narrow defeat in his opening three Premier League fixtures.
Lopetegui’s only loss so far was an unfortunate one as Manchester United struggled up against a resilient Wanderers side, but one moment of genius from Marcus Rashford sealed the deal on the day. Wolves dominated again away at Aston Villa for a highly-anticipated derby match, but the hosts managed to get back into the game through Danny Ings, with the game ending 1-1.
There is now a sense of urgency to get some more fresh players through the door with some key Premier League fixtures against West Ham United and Manchester City fast approaching. The period between the trip to the Etihad Stadium on January 22 and the following game at home to Liverpool on February 4 could be key as it gives the Wanderers the opportunity to turn more attention to transfers.
With that in mind, here is how we rate the likelihood of certain linked players heading to Molineux this winter, out of 10.
1. Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 8/10
Wanderers are said to be eager to bring in a right-back, with Wan-Bissaka at the top of their list. It makes good sense as Nelson Semedo lacks consistency at times. The Man Utd man has hit a run of form, though, and could be tempted to stay.
2. Nacho Fernandez - 4/10
Has been linked tirelessly with the likes of Wolves and Aston Villa, but the Spaniard is happy at Real Madrid. Unless there is a late change, he will probably remain at the Bernabeu.
3. Viktor Gyokeres - 6/10
The former Brighton striker is highly sort after as he has come to life for Coventry City. Wolves are interested, but as are plenty of other clubs.
4. Isco - 8/10
Recently had his contract terminated early by Sevilla so is available as a free agent. Lopetegui is said to be keen on a reunion and Wolves could really do with midfield depth. Makes great sense.
