Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on the first of what they hope will be numerous summer signings, with a full agreement imminent for Celta Vigo winger Fer Lopez.
Birmingham World understands the Old Gold have seen a £19.5 million bid accepted by Celta and that Lopez is close to agreeing personal terms. The 21-year-old, one of Jorge Mendes’ clients, only made his proper La Liga breakthrough during the second half of the season just gone but that was enough time to impress.
Wolves have also already confirmed two done deals, both of which are exits. Talismanic attacker Matheus Cunha recently joined Manchester United in a club record £62.5 million transfer and left wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri has signed for Manchester City for around £33.5 million plus add-ons.
Transfer discussions are underway as Wolves seek to replace Cunha and Ait-Nouri but head coach Vitor Pereira, now into his first summer transfer window, wants to address plenty of other areas in the squad. It’s understood Wanderers are hoping to strengthen in the goalkeeper, central defender, left wing-back, central midfield, attacking midfield, right wing and striker positions.
Who could Wolves sign this summer, then? And who could depart Molineux to raise funds? The speculation has been rife over recent days, weeks and months, so Birmingham World has done the hard yards and sourced every single rumour since March. Without further ado, here’s a full run-through.
