Wolves transfer boost as deadline day target 'turns down' Leicester City

The latest Wolves and Leicester City transfer news on deadline day.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have boosted in their pursuit of Josh Brownhill as the midfielder has reportedly rejected a move to Midlands rivals Leicester City.
Brownhill is understood to be a long-term target for Wolves, who have been tracking the 29-year-old for several seasons. It emerged on Sunday that talks had been held with Brownhill and his representatives, with Wanderers attempting to convince him to turn down a big-money offer from the Saudi Pro League.
Currently a free agent following his departure from Burnley at the end of last season, Brownhill is a man in demand. There’s no wonder, as the midfielder, capable of playing in an array of roles, scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 42 Championship appearances last term.

There’s now been a significant update, as EFL Analysis reports Leicester were in for the ex-Bristol City man but have been rebuffed in an attempt to sign him. It’s claimed the Foxes offered Brownhill the chance to become one of the highest-paid players in Championship history in an effort to beat a Saudi Pro League club to his signature, but he’s turned it down.
Only a few hours remain of the transfer window but Wolves could use this as an opportunity to swoop in and bolster their midfield depth. Initial talks have been held with Brownhill, after all, so it’s not like the Old Gold are starting from scratch.
Brownhill has played 111 times in the Premier League throughout his career. The ex-Barnsley and Preston North End man is comfortable in many midfield positions, so he could be a handy addition.
