Wolves tipped to battle Newcastle United for bargain goalkeeper whose stats beat David Raya and Alisson

Wolves have the chance to bolster their ranks with some some signings this summer. Vitor Pereira will want to put more of his own stamp on his squad later this year. He also has the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door when the next window opens for business.
The Midlands are sat in 17th place in the Premier League table ahead of their home clash against Tottenham Hotspur. They are 12 points clear of the drop zone. Pablo Sarabia and Jorgen Strand Larsen got their goals last time out at Ipswich Town as they ran out 2-1 winners at Portman Road.

Wolves are keeping tabs on Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana, according to Football Insider. The report adds that fellow top flight sides Newcastle United and Brentford are also keen. He has the best post-shot expected goals (PSxG) record of any ‘keeper in Europe’s top five leagues this season, more than stars like Liverpool’s Alisson and Arsenal stopper David Raya.
Fofana, 24, could be seen by Pereira as someone to bolster his goalkeeping department. If he made the switch to Molineux, he would battle it out with Jose Sa for the number one. He is an Ivory Coast international with 15 caps under his belt so far.
The France-born man started his career with spells as a youngster at Espérance Paris 19ème and Red Star. Le Havre snapped him up and he rose up through their ranks before going on to play 41 matches for their first-team whilst they were in Ligue 2. He caught the eye of Angers and they swooped in for him in 2022.
Fofana has since become the first choice of his current club and they could now face a real battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere. He has played 72 matches for them to date. The stopper helped them gain promotion to Ligue 1 last year and has since adapted well to the step up a division.

Hide AdVitor Pereira’s reaction to Wolves win over Ipswich Town
Wolves have been in decent form recently and should be full of confidence. Speaking after their valuable win at Ipswich, Pereira said: “I’m very happy for the players, for the club, and especially for the supporters. First half was not the way that we prepared. We prepared to try to win. We created two or three chances to score, but the pace and the pressing was not what I asked.
“Half time we changed tactically and we started to create problems, to control what we did, and had better quality in possession, better movements, a little bit higher to press, and we created chances to score two goals, and I think we deserved to win the game.”
