Predicting Wolverhampton Wanderers’ lineup away at Bristol City in the FA Cup.

Wolves get their 2024/25 FA Cup campaign underway with a trip to Championship outfit Bristol City at lunchtime on Saturday.

Vitor Pereira will get his first taste of the world’s oldest and most famous football cup competition as the Old Gold make the trip to Ashton Gate. Wanderers will be eager to make up for last season’s quarter-final disappointment against Coventry City with an even more impressive run in this year’s tournament.

The options are limited but Pereira is likely to rotate slightly for this weekend’s clash, switching things up from the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. There are dilemmas everywhere you look with a host of important players out injured. There’s also a call whether to start new signing Emmanuel Agbadou - a £20 million addition from Reims - immediately as he’s indeed available and registered.

With half a dozen changes from Monday’s loss to Forest, here’s the Wanderers XI we reckon Pereira will name against the Robins.

Wolves predicted lineup vs Bristol City (FA Cup)

GK - Sam Johnstone

The summer signing from Crystal Palace has fallen back behind Jose Sa in the pecking order but he’s bound to start in the cup.

CB - Emmanuel Agbadou

Pereira’s first addition should come straight in for his debut. It may seem risky as he’s not had long to settle but there aren’t many better options!

CB - Santi Bueno

The Uruguayan has struggled for consistency this campaign but he’s looked an improved player under Pereira thus far. Let’s hope that can continue.

CB - Bastien Meupiyou

As he’s yet to feature for the Old Gold, it’s time Meupiyou made an appearance as he’s now back to fitness after recovering from an injury he arrived at the club with.

RWB - Pedro Lima

Another start is possible for the Brazilian after he did an ok job against Forest. He wasn’t at fault for any of the goals at least.

LWB - Rodrigo Gomes

The versatile 21-year-old will be itching to start as many games as possible. Another performance like the one at Leicester would be handy.

CM - Andre

Now back and available after a minor injury, Andre should head into the XI to build sharpness ahead of the trips to Newcastle United and Chelsea.

CM - Tommy Doyle

Starts have been few and far between this term but Doyle has one of the best passing ranges at the club. He just needs a run of games to show it off.

RW - Carlos Forbs

Signed to make an impact when required, Forbs should be utilised in a game like this. His pace will be frightening for Bristol.

LW - Pablo Sarabia

Another fringe player who could do with some game time, Sarabia is superb when at his best but needs consistent minutes to find his rhythm.

ST - Jorgen Strand Larsen

There’s no particular need to rest the Norwegian and his target man presence up top makes sense with plenty of smaller players around him.
