Photos appear to show Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha elbowing and knocking the glasses off an Ipswich Town staff member.

Cunha was seemingly involved in an altercation with a member of Ipswich’s staff after Wolves’ humiliating 2-1 defeat to the Tractor Boys.

Tensions spilled over at Molineux as the Old Gold conceded from a set piece for the 16th time this season. Jack Taylor headed in Ipswich’s winner deep in second-half stoppage time, earning all three points for the visitors.

Several Wolves players were in the centre of a melee upon the full-time whistle as Ipswich celebrated their second victory of the season. Rayan Ait-Nouri received a second yellow card in the scuffle, while Cunha appeared to take out his frustrations on an individual.

Photos released by ESPN show Cunha with his hand on the face of an Ipswich staff member, taking off his glasses in the process. It’s unknown whether Cunha swung his hand to grab the glasses, but either way it’s not a good look.

Just before that moment, Cunha appeared to elbow the same individual in the back of the head, as shown during Sky Sports’ broadcast. It was only brief, and it may have been accidental as Cunha was flailing his arms around, but contact was seemingly made.

It’s inevitable that this will not be the last of the incident as an investigation will need to take place. If found guilty of wrongdoing, Cunha could feel the consequences.

Either way, manager Gary O’Neil will not take the moment lightly, neither will he look past Ait-Nouri’s needless suspension as it leaves Wolves in a worrying position defensively.
