Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer target Matheus Nunes is still holding out for a move to Liverpool, according to reports.

The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been the top of Wolves’ shopping list since the transfer window opened earlier this summer and though the gold and black have made clear their desire to land him, the 23-year-old apparently wants Liverpool and Liverpool only.

With veteran midfielder Joao Moutinho coming towards the end of his professional career, Nunes could fill a huge void set to be left in the heart of Bruno Lage’s side’s midfield.

But according to Correiro da Manha (via Empire of the Kop), not only does the Portuguese international want the Reds but they may now be forced to grant him his wish due to their current injury crisis in the middle of the park.

Nunes is keen to play Champions League football and compete for trophies at the highest level, something he feels he will be unable to do should he join Lage’s outfit.

With four-years left on his current deal in Portugal, though, it will cost a hefty fee to prize him away from Lisbon with figures in the region of £30-40million said to be what it will take to land his services.
