Wolverhampton Wanderers are in home Premier League action for the first time this season as they take on UEFA Europa League newbies Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.
Wolves got off to a losing start to the campaign at Manchester United on Monday evening but put on a tremendous display that was deserving of at least a draw, if not a victory.
The impact Gary O’Neil was able to have in just a few days was remarkable as the Old Gold recorded the most shots (23) for a Premier League away side at Old Trafford since Chelsea in 2005 (25).
Despite the unfortunate result, Wanderers will have gained plenty of confidence from that encounter and therefore are likely to lineup in a fairly similar fashion for their first Molineux clash.
Brighton kicked off their own season with a 4-1 thrashing of Luton Town last time out and look a dangerous force under Roberto De Zerbi. They have lost Moisés Caicedo, though, and are still adjusting.
With that in mind, we think O’Neil will stick with the solid back four structure but make some changes to his attack to freshen things up a little. Flick through the pages to see our inclusions, as well as brief explanations.
1. GK - Jose Sa
Has remained between the sticks under the new head coach and is expected to keep his place.
2. RB - Nelson Semedo
Won’t be dropped from the team until he gives O’Neil a reason to do so, we think. Doherty must wait.
3. CB - Craig Dawson
Always a solid option at the back and makes up for his lack of pace with superb positioning and anticipation.
4. CB - Max Kilman
The new skipper – and kept as so by O’Neil – has seemingly cemented his spot alongside Dawson.
