Hwang Hee Chan suffered an injury whilst representing South Korea on international duty. He felt the affects of a sliding challenge from Jordanian defender Ehsan Haddad. Hwang had to be helped back to his feet on what appeared to be an ankle injury, and he was forced off after just 20 minutes.

There was a hope that Bastien Meupiyou would begin training with his new teammates around this week. He arrived from Nantes with an injury from his former club, and so he's been prevented from making his debut.

Yerson Mosquera, Sasa Kalajdzic, and Enso Gonzalez all have serious injuries. Centre-back Mosquera underwent knee surgery on Tuesday. Mosquera injured his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the latter stages of the defeat to Aston Villa. Gonzalez is also sidelined with an ACL injury to his right kne after representing Paraguay at the Olympic Games.

“Enso’s doing great,” said Phil Hayward, head of high performance in a recent update on the official club website.

“He’s in the gym a lot now, beginning his strength phase. He’s a few months ahead of Yerson and is progressing really well. He responded really well to the initial surgery and is back in the gym working hard, so he’s right on track with where we’d expect him to be.”

Kalajdzic suffered his ACL injury in his right knee when playing for Eintracht Frankfurt. He had surgery in London, and has been recovering in the Midlands. The forward was named in the club's 25-man squad list, despite his current injury status.

“Sasa’s getting towards the end,” added Hayward. He’s back on the grass which is great for him – it’s great to see him back out there. He’s now starting to get to the more functional aspects of his rehab.

“Over the next few months we’ll be integrating more ball work into what he does and then hopefully get him back into training and matches in the not too distant future.”

Boubacar Traore is out with an injury that will put him on the shelf until around Christmas or the New Year. Traore sustained his injury in a Carabao Cup win over Burnley in August.

Man City team news

The champions will have to do without influential midfielder Rodri for the season. He ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament following a collision with Arsenal's Thomas Partey at the end of September. He underwent surgery shortly after it emerged he had suffered such a serious injury, and that has put him on the sidelines.

Oscar Bobb had to undergo surgery after fracturing his leg in August. He's expected to be out for between three to four months. Bobb sustained his injury during a training session.

Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake are both doubts. Ake came back from international duty last month with an injury, whilst De Bruyne has been out since the goalless draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League in mid-September.

Out: Rodri and Oscar Bobb. Doubt: Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake.
