The latest injury news from both Wolves and Liverpool ahead of their live televised clash on Sky Sports on early Saturday evening.

Wolves are still on the search for their first Premier League win of the season as they host Liverpool at Molineux on Saturday, September 28 at 5.30 pm.

Gary O'Neil's side are rock bottom of the table and have the joint worst defence in the league having shipped 14 goals in their first five games. Liverpool on the other hand are second, with their only blemish of the campaign being a shock home defeat to Nottingham Forest nearly a fortnight ago.

Wolves team news

Wolves were hit with the news this week that Yerson Mosquera will all but miss the remainder of the season. The 23-year-old was stretchered off in the latter stages of the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend, and it has been revealed that he has injuries to the medial collateral ligament (MCL) and the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

Centre-back is an area of concern with only Craig Dawson and Santiago Bueno considered as senior options. Alfie Pond partnered Bueno in the 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup and could be given an opportunity from Mosquera’s misfortune.

Mosquera joins Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic as the other two long-term absentees. Gonzalez sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee whilst representing Paraguay at the Olympic Games in Paris. Kalajdzic tore the cruciate and lateral ligaments in his right knee whilst on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt in February, and isn’t expected to return until the New Year.

French centre-back Bastien Meupiyou arrived from Nantes in the summer, joining on a five-year deal. He is yet to make his debut having arrived with a pre-existing injury. He could come into the reckoning around mid-October.

Toti Gomes missed the defeat to Newcastle United a fortnight ago with a small hamstring injury. The 25-year-old had started all three of Wolves' league matches up until that point and he will be assessed.

Out: Yerson Mosquera, Bastien Meupiyou, Enso Gonzalez, and Sasa Kalajdzic. Doubt: Toti Gomes.

Liverpool team news

Forward Harvey Elliott is to miss up to six weeks of action after fracturing his foot. He had only made one appearance this season, which was as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Brentford. Elliott has only played seven minutes under new manager Arne Slot, and was an unused substitute against Ipswich Town and Man United.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker sat out of the win against Bournemouth at the weekend after suffering a thigh injury. Caoimhin Kelleher played against the Cherries, and continued against West Ham. The Republic of Ireland shot-stopper could start three consecutive matches, with Alisson a doubt.

“We’re looking at the weekend against Wolves, but it’s going to be tight, so let’s see if he manages to be there," said Slot in his pre-match press conference before their match against West Ham.

Out: Harvey Elliott. Doubt: Alisson Becker.
