Wolverhampton Wanderers may be fighting relegation at the moment but they still have three Brazilian internationals in their ranks including frontman Matheus Cunha and midfield duo Andre and Joao Gomes.
All three were included in Brazil’s squad for a 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over Colombia while also featuring in a disappointing 4-1 defeat to rivals Argentina which marred the celebrations of Cunha’s first international goal.

Hide AdVitor Pereira will hope all three are a part of his squad for years to come as he helps to return the West Midlands outfit back to the heights they reached under Nuno Espirito Santo at the end of the last decade. However, while on international duty Andre has predicted that one of his Brazil’s team-mates is destined to move on to ‘bigger things’ in the future, in an interview which will make grim reading for Wolves supporters.
Andre believes teammate will move soon
Andre, who arrived at Wolves from Fluminese shortly after winning the Copa Libertadores, believes midfield partner Joao Gomes has bigger plans for his career. ESPN cover comments from the midfielder today made in an interview with TNT Sports Brasil, in which he discusses his teammate, who he faced off with on several occasions during his time in the Brazilian league.
Gomes arrived from Flamengo for £15m and has enjoyed a steady campaign with three goals and one assist while often being an everpresent at the heart of midfield. He’s reportedly been gaining admirers thanks to his performances, with consistent reports that Liverpool have a longstanding interest in the Brazilian midfielder and could move for him this summer.
Andre refused to directly comment on Gomes’ supposed interest from Liverpool, having also been the subject of interest from the Anfield side before his move to Molineux, according to reports last season. However, he did admit it’s only a matter of time before the midfielder moves onto pastures new. In his opinion, he said: “About João, I played against him several times in the youth team, in the professional team, we have the same agent,” he said.

I really root for him. We also have a good rapport. I hope he continues to grow. He may not be here for long because he’s such a great player, he’ll have bigger goals in the near future.”
Liverpool plot move for Joao Gomes
Liverpool are interested in signing the Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes during the summer transfer window, according to Caught Offside.
The outlet explains the Reds, who are on course to win the league title, are better positioned to secure his signature than any other European contender. The reports, which also features prominently in Fichajes, states that they are prepared to offer £42 million in order to get the deal done although Wolves may only allow the midfielder to leave if they get a higher figure.
