Wolverhampton Wanderers have been plagued by injuries this season and the bad fortunes continued on Saturday as Diego Costa was stretchered off in the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The result was fantastic as Wolves soared up to 13th in the Premier League, but there was plenty of concern for the striker.
Jumping for the ball up against Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp, Costa came back down and landed awkwardly to cause what seemed to be a serious knee injury.
Now, following the match, there seems to be a little more clarity around the situation – as we will detail later on in this article.
The former Chelsea man isn’t the only one sidelined at the moment, though, as Hugo Bueno, Boubacar Traore, Hwang Hee-chan, Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic are also recovering from their own problems.
With that in mind, here are all the latest Wolves injury updates, with estimated return fixtures. See below.
1. Wolves estimated injury return dates
Here are the latest predicted return matches for injured Wanderers players.
2. Sasa Kalajdzic
Suffered a significant knee injury on his debut against Southampton and is expected to remain out for the rest of the season. Lopetegui said on February 2: “Sasa requires more time. However, we have no concerns that [he will] fully recover.” Expected return date: summer pre-season.
3. Chiquinho
Just like Kalajdzic, severely damaged his knee ligaments before the campaign had even got properly underway – against Burnley in pre-season. Recovering well but not going to play this term. Expected return date: summer pre-season.
4. Hwang Hee-chan
Sustained a hamstring problem in the 3-0 win over Liverpool in February. On March 3, Lopetegui said: “He’s closer to start with us. He’s better and closer, but it’s not enough time.” Estimated return date: Newcastle (A) - March 12.
