Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of four clubs reportedly interested in signing young midfielder Carlos Alcaraz from Racing Club. Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Porto are also said to be looking at the possibility of signing the 19-year-old in the January transfer window.

The wonderkid, who shares the same first and last name as the world tennis number one, has been linked tirelessly with Wolves over recent months. Alcaraz has made 19 appearances in the Argentine top flight this campaign, netting three goals. He also scored an extra-time winning goal in the domestic cup final, against Boca Juniors.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reports Inter were the first side to take a look at Alcaraz, but recently Wolves and Porto have ‘asked for information’ about the Argentine. Alcaraz’s agent, Sebastian Lopez, spoke to FC Inter News about the speculation surrounding his client.

Lopez said: “He is a footballer with a guaranteed future. He’s liked in the Bundesliga and Premier League, but also in Portugal and Italy. Several offers came [in the summer], but none of them were accepted. The valuation is €15 million, which perhaps could be discounted to €12 million.”

The agent admitted Alcaraz could be available for even less than that if a good enough percentage sell-on clause were to be added to any bid. This possibility could perhaps interest new manager Julen Lopetegui, who took charge of Wolves on Monday, November 14. For now, this is one to watch.
