Wolves have reportedly had negotiations with Atletico Madrid defender Felipe over a potential move to the Premier League. The Midlands outfit have already raided the Metropolitano Stadium ahead of the January transfer window for attacker Matheus Cunha.

Julen Lopetegui’s have also held ‘talks’ with his former teammate, as detailed in a report by The Athletic. They could see the Brazil international as someone to bolster their defensive department ahead of the second-half of the season as they look to stay up in the top flight.

Felipe, 33, has seen his game time dry up this term and has only made three appearances in all competitions, two of which have come in La Liga. His contract expires at the end of the campaign meaning Atletico Madrid risk losing him for free next summer if they don’t cash in on him next month.

He has played for them since 2019 and has played 112 times in all competitions, helping Diego Simeone’s side win the title a couple of years ago. Prior to his move there, he had spells at Corinthians and FC Porto.

Wolves’ main issues this season have been at the other end of the pitch and they are the lowest scorers in the league so far. However, bringing in another defender would be a sensible move this winter and Felipe is someone who would inject more competition and depth to that area.
