Wolverhampton Wanderers have ‘shown interest’ in Stade Rennais boss Bruno Genesio despite sitting within touching distance of the European places in the Premier League.

That’s according to French outlet RMC Sport who add that a number of top teams are keeping tabs on the former midfielder including Wanderers’ fellow Premier League sides Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s news that has come as a huge shock, especially to fans of the gold and black who under their current regime you could argue are actually overachieving at this moment in time.

That’s not to say a replacement for Bruno Lage is being discussed behind the scenes, it could simply be a case that those in the hierarchy like what they see of the Frenchman and are interested to watch how his career progresses but it’s still a worrying line to see in a big tabloid.

Looking at Everton’s current predicament and it’s easy to see why names are already being touted there to take over in 22/23 and Spurs manager Antonio Conte has already threatened to walk out several times this season so to think Daniel Levy is potentially on standby for a new man would be far from a shock.

But Wolves is a strange one. It’s evident that Lage hasn’t had the backing he would have probably liked during his short stint at Molineux but he’s still delivering and doing so at a high level.
