Latest Wolves transfer news as Sheffield United could be picked apart following their relegation from the Premier League.

Wolves are apparently leading the race to sign Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, and could sign a teammate of his too, according to a report.

According to the Sun, Wolves are in pole position to sign Ahmedhodzic, who is valued at £20m. The 24-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina international is viewed at by Molineux chiefs as the 'ideal man' to replace Max Kilman who was sold to West Ham for £40m.

The Sun adds that Ahmedhodzic wants to return to the Premier League, and that the move would suit both parties. If Wolves do end up paying the £20m then he would get back to the English top-flight whilst the Blades would be able to invest that back in to their playing squad as they try to assemble a team capable of bouncing back from relegation at the first attempt.

A potential hold up is that United are currently in takeover talks with an American consortium, but Ahmedhodzic's sale could allow Wilder to get on with things. In a welcome boost to Wolves, they may end up paying even less than the £20m. It is believed however that Malmo FF shall be entitled 13% of any future sale in excess of €4.5m.

The 25-year-old moved to Yorkshire for £5m from Swedish side Malmo and has 73 games of English football under his belt. He played 32 times for Sheffield United last season and was their captain on many occasions.

Anel Ahmedhodzic isn't the only Sheffield United player being linked with a move to Woves, with his midfield teammate Gustavo Hamer also a reported target. According to the same source, Wolves have an interested in Hamer, who was signed from Coventry City last summer for £15m.

All that has been reported is that Wolves have an interest in Hamer, with nothing further added. The 27-year-old was a prominent fixture for United last season, and missed just two of their league games. Hamer got six assists and four goals in 36 games, and also played in their EFL Cup and FA Cup matches, where he registered a further goal and assist.

The three-time Netherlands under-20 international is under contract at Bramall Lane until the summer of 2027, and so United would be able to command a sizeable fee. The Brazil-born midfielder has been in England for the last four years after joining Coventry City from PEC Zwolle for £1.5m, and it is yet unclear what kind of fee United would command for a player of his ability.
