Wolverhampton Wanderers’ frustrating summer looks poised to continue with Fulham ‘set to complete the signing’ of long-term transfer target, Joao Palhinha.

It was stated last week that the recently promoted side had jumped in late on with an offer for the Sporting Lisbon man and Talksport are now reporting that it’s the Cottagers that have won the race for his signature.

And to rub salt in the wounds, Palhinha’s Portuguese teammate and former Southampton defender Jose Fonte told Talksport that he believes the midfielder will slot in nicely in the Premier League.

“He is no-nonsense, a hard-worker, tall and good in the air,” he said.

“I like him a lot. He is suited to the Premier League.”

All of this comes off the back of a recent report from BirminghamLive which brought with it more doom and gloom.

It claimed that another huge summer target of Bruno Lage’s, Matheus Nunes, would also not be signed until the future of Ruben Neves is decided. This, of course, could mean it is all too little too late.

It appears to be knock-back after knock-back for Wolves who as it stands are heading for a second successive summer without a marquee addition.
