Wolves could sign wonderkid striker with record-breaking goal tally for free as Premier League interest grows

Wolves lost 2-0 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion last time out. Their season may well be starting to fizzle out and they have been beaten in both of their last two games now. Vitor Pereira’s side are sat in 14th place in the Premier League table and have two fixtures left to play.
First up is an away trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace. They then lock horns with Brentford at home on the final day. Pereira has managed to lift them away from trouble since his appointment at Molineux.

Hide AdWolves target move for Matviy Ponomarenko at Dynamo Kyiv
Wolves are interested in a move for Dynamo Kyiv striker Matviy Ponomarenko this summer, according to Dynamo.Kiev.UA. The report adds that Leicester City are also in the frame for his signature, along with some unspecified teams from Portugal, Spain and Belgium. The Foxes have been relegated back to the Championship along with Ipswich Town and Southampton and will be eyeing an immediate return.
Ponomarenko, 19, broke a record during the 2023/24 season when he scored 24 goals in the Ukrainian Under-19 Championship. That goal return saw him become the top scorer in that competition ever. His current club could now face a battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere.
The teenager has been on the books of Dynamo Kyiv for his whole career to date. He has risen up through their academy ranks and has been a regular at various different youth levels. The prospect is under contract until January but will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another team as things stand if he doesn’t pen an extension anytime soon.
Wolves latest in the Premier League
Wolves will get the chance to bring in some new signings when the window opens up. Pereira will want to put more of his own stamp on the squad. They will also get the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door if needed.

Hide AdHe wasn’t too happy with their defeat against Brighton and will want to bounce back against Crystal Palace. Speaking after their match against the Seagulls, he said: “The first half we competed, created some chances to finish, but missed the last shot, last pass, but we competed with one or two mistakes. Second half, in my opinion, we can do better. We tried to turn over the result. A lot of heart, but we missed some organisation.
“The game started to become unpredictable, very open, and we exposed ourselves to counter attacks against a good team. They finished and they scored the second. We had the chance to score before 1-1, but they scored the second. We played a lot with our heart in the second half, but without intelligence to control the pace and the match goes to transitions and transitions, counter transitions. We won the ball, lost the ball. This is not the game that I like, because it's unpredictable. In the end, they punished us, and they deserved the win.”
