Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the club has exercised the option to extend defender Nelson Semedo’s contract, keeping him at Molineux until at least June 2025. The experienced Portuguese, who can play in either full-back position, has been a key player throughout the early days of Julen Lopetegui’s reign.
Despite a shaky start to the season under Bruno Lage, Semedo has made 34 appearances in the Premier League this term and is expected to start the final two games against Everton and Arsenal. The 29-year-old hasn’t really been threatened for his spot in the team and that will likely continue next campaign.

Hide AdLopetegui is delighted to keep hold of one of his key players and as is sporting director Matt Hobbs, who sees Semedo as an important figure going forward. “We’re really happy for Nelson to remain as part of the pack for another two years. He’s a player who the manager really trusts,” Hobbs said in a club statement.
“He’s always been an excellent player, but he has really picked up his form since Julen has come in. He’s a very important player on the pitch for us, and as a person, his personality and his work ethic also make him a very important part of the squad off the pitch.
“We’re pleased to have got to the point where we can extend Nelson’s contract and we’re really happy for him to remain as part of the pack for another two years. We look forward to seeing what he will deliver for the team as he thrives once more under Julen next season,” Hobbs continued.
