Newcastle United face competition from Champions League giants in the race for a Wolves star.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined Newcastle United and a host of other Premier League clubs in the transfer fight for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.

The Portugal international forward, currently at the 2024 UEFA European Championships in Germany, was one of Wolves’ best players last season but his injury record is concerning. Neto, disrupted by hamstring issues, scored two goals and made nine assists but played just 20 times in the Premier League.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported, via Wolfpack Podcast, that PSG have displayed a strong interest in Neto. This follows on from a HITC report stating Newcastle initiated contact over Neto after seeing an offer rejected for Wolves captain Maximilian Kilman.

The Old Gold’s number seven has also been linked with Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. It has been widely claimed that Wolves would consider bids in the region of £60 million to bolster the transfer budget.

Such a sale would bring in an excellent profit as Neto cost just £15 million to buy from Italian Serie A side Lazio in August 2019. The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals and contributed 24 assists in 135 matches since then.

Wolves could consider Neto and Kilman bids

Gary O’Neil has repeatedly admitted the lack of spending power available to him for the summer window but the sale of Neto would help matters. Bids for Kilman from Newcastle and West Ham mean there could be another avenue for funds, though Wolves are determined to keep hold of their star centre-back.
