Wolves and West Ham ‘plot move’ for Emiliano Martinez but Everton and Luton Town also keen

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly among a host of Premier League clubs preparing an approach for FC Midtjylland midfielder Emiliano Martinez.

Not to be confused with the Aston Villa goalkeeper and World Cup winner, this Martinez is most certainly an outfield player and has gained plenty of attention.

A full Uruguay international, Martinez only signed for Midtjjlland in January but could be on the move again already after impressing throughout 24 Superligaen appearances.

Footy Insider reports Wolves and West Ham United hold a strong interest in the former Red Bull Bragantino man, whereas Tribal Football claims Luton Town and Everton are also in the mix.

All four clubs are looking to recruit a deep-lying midfielder and Martinez fits that bill as he has played 82 times as a defensive anchor, while 13 games have been further forward.

Wolves need someone after Ruben Neves left, West Ham want depth following Declan Rice’s departure, and both Luton and Everton are hoping to strengthen to avoid relegation.

Martinez, who turns 24 in August, has plenty of experience in international and continental club competitions having played 11 times in Copa Libertadores.

He’s also featured on seven occasions in the Europa League since the turn of the year.
