Highly sought-after Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott will ‘definitely leave’ this summer according to a recent report, with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion all interested in his services.

The 19-year-old has been a sensation for the Robins over the last two seasons, racking up an impressive 80 appearances in the Championship since the start of the 2021/22 term and scoring five goals in that time.

Typically deployed in a deep-lying playmaker role, Scott has earned three caps at England U20 level and has been on the radar of an array of clubs in the Premier League. He could be set for his big break next campaign.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs appeared on theLast Word On Spurs podcast and provided an update on Scott’s future, as well as the teams interested and the fee it would likely take to secure his services.

“Scott was a story that I broke about a year ago, and in January I revealed he would definitely go this summer and that is still my understanding – that Bristol City will not be able to hang on to the player and they know that,” Jacobs said.

“He’s 100% on Tottenham’s radar, they were one of the clubs. Wolves are going to push very hard as well, I think we can also be taking a look to an extent anyway at some clubs with European football.

“Brighton might be one to watch, I was going to say Aston Villa but their interest has cooled and they’ve signed Youri Tielemans on a free transfer. I don’t think they’ll strengthen in another way in the centre of the park at this stage.

“The fee they’re asking for is around about £30 million or £35 million. I know in some places you’ll see £25 million. Bristol City want more than that, albeit it might be an all-in number. This isn’t a small deal,” Jacobs continued.

Eight clubs are said to have enquired for Scott since January alone but two of them, Leicester City and Leeds United, have of course been relegated and that ends any chance of the player heading to either of those destinations.

As Jacobs said, it will take a sizeable fee for any potential suitor to acquire Scott’s services, but his maturity for his age, wide skillset and high potential could make him a valuable asset wherever he goes.
