Wolves transfer 'nearing completion' as £15.4m attacker set for 593-mile flight

The latest Premier League transfer news as Wolves agree a transfer for a £15.4m striker.

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Sasa Kalajdzic is on the verge of signing for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on a six-month loan deal, according to a reputable report.

The Austrian, who joined Wolves from VfB Stuttgart in August 2022 for a fee of £15.4 million, has slowly been working his way back to full strength following a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury. Kalajdzic has proven he's still got it as he's netted three goals in just 280 minutes of competitive action this season, but he's behind the likes of Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha in the pecking order.

Transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano reports Frankfurt have "reached an agreement in principle with Wolves" for Kalajdzic to return to Germany until the end of the season. It isn't clear if there's any buy option included, but it seems unlikely as Wanderers have still hardly seen their big-money striker in gold. The likelihood is this is merely a chance taken for Kalajdzic to build confidence again.

The Old Gold are in action tonight as they play Brentford and it was thought Kalajdzic could make his first start since the 2-1 win over Sheffield United on November 4. That won't be happening now, though, with the 6ft 7in attacker preparing for a 593-mile flight from Birmingham to Frankfurt.

Kalajdzic, who scored 24 goals in 60 games for Stuttgart, could add some much-needed firepower as Frankfurt currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga. Three points is the gap to Borussia Dortmund in fifth, while leaders Bayer Leverkusen are a mighty 18 points ahead.
