Liverpool and Sunderland 'relieved' as Wolves conduct 'initial talks' over goalkeeper signing
Wolves are said to have taken the initial steps to sign Sweden international ‘keeper Jacob Widell Zetterström from Allsvenskan outfit Djurgården IF this summer.
Gary O’Neil is on the hunt for a new option between the sticks as Jose Sa, albeit a decent shot-stopper, has often struggled with his distribution. Zetterström, who made his senior debut for Sweden against Iceland in January 2023, has impressed so far this season.

Hide AdThe 25-year-old - bearing in mind the Swedish top tier campaign began at the end of March - has racked up an impressive six clean sheets in just 11 Allsvenskan appearances this term. Zetterström kept 11 shutouts last season and 12 the year before that, making him a reliable option between the sticks.
Expressen reports Wolves recently sent goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler out to scout Zetterström as Djurgården beat Mjällby by three goals to one. That was ironically the goalkeeper’s first goal conceded in five league matches but Cutler was said to be impressed nonetheless.
It’s claimed Wolves already conducted initial talks with Zetterström’s representatives several weeks ago to lay the foundations for a move. And more recently, the player’s agent, Blash Hosseini, has refused to rule out a summer transfer.
“I cannot comment on any clubs, but there is a great interest in the player and he has done fantastically during the spring in Djurgården,” Hosseini told Expressen. “Jacob has big goals for his career and to achieve that he needs to take the step out to Europe sooner or later,” the agent admitted.

Liverpool and Sunderland will likely be relieved of any approaches from Wolves if O’Neil’s side do indeed sign Zetterström. The Sun reported last month that the Old Gold had shortlisted Reds goalkeeper Caoimhin Kellher and Black Cats shot-stopper Anthony Patterson as potential Jose Sa replacements.
