The latest Premier League transfer news as Wolves register an interest in a Man City midfielder wanted by Sheffield United.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly added Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle to their transfer shortlist this summer.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have already had two bids rejected for Bristol City wonderkid Alex Scott and are therefore looking for potential alternatives if that deal can’t be pulled off.

Doyle, who spent last season on loan with Sheffield United in the Championship, has made just seven senior appearances for City in all competitions and could be allowed to leave.

The 21-year-old, who scored four goals and assisted seven last term, was a key player for the Blades. He also scored the goal to take his side to the FA Cup semi final.

Sheffield United would like the player to return to Bramall Lane on a permanent basis but Wolves are interested in hijacking that potential deal with an approach of their own.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, transfer news journalist Rudy Galetti said: “Doyle is followed by several Premier League clubs, including Wolves.”

The reporter also claimed Wanderers are keen on bringing in West Ham United goalkeeper Alphonse Areola as a replacement for Jose Sa, who is likely to depart Molineux.

Back to Doyle, though, and Wolves are yet to make any formal contact with City for the player but could do so if the attempts to sign Scott don’t materialise.
