There was relief and celebration around the away end at the King Power Stadium and Wolverhampton Wanderers claimed what could be a crucial win at fellow Premier League strugglers Leicester City.
Speaking ahead of his first game in charge, new head coach Vitor Pereira revealed he admires ‘creative’ managers such as Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola - but even he could not have imagined such a promising start to his Wolves reign as a dominant first-half performance helped his side to a 3-0 win that has taken them to within two points of escaping the Premier League relegation zone.

Hide AdAs per The Mirror, the Portuguese boss said: "I am a very creative guy. I need to express myself. Football gives me the chance to create something. It is like painting. I have come here to create something new, to create something beautiful, something strong. I like the Da Vinci managers. The managers that are a step ahead of the others, they create new things, new football. The beautiful thing in football is the things we haven’t created yet."
Whatever the new aspect to the game Pereira has created during the early days of his time in charge seemed to have made an instant impact as his new side took the lead with 19 minutes on the clock after Goncalo Guedes made the most of approach play from Nelson Semedo and Jorgen Strand Larsen. Things got even better for Pereira nine minutes before half-time as Rodrigo Gomes doubled the lead and top goalscorer Matheus Cunha stretched the lead to three in the final minute of a remarkable half after he was found by Guedes.
That first-half display sucked the life out of the home faithful at the King Power Stadium and it could have got even worse for the Foxes had Santiago Bueno and Joao Gomes taken chances to enhance Wolves lead during a hardworking second 45 minutes. The full-time whistle brought more celebrations from the travelling support as their side racked up only their second away win of the season and gave their new head coach a perfect introduction to life in the Premier League.
