Wolves and Chelsea are set to be impacted by a controversial Premier League decision as the festive fixture schedule is revised.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea are set to be struck with a shock schedule change as the Premier League look to revamp the festive fixture list. Originally set to play one another on Boxing Day, the two teams have now been set aside to battle on Christmas Eve, as per our sister publication, Express & Star.

It was reported by The Telegraph on Thursday that the Premier League have been proposing moving at least one match to December 24. It now appears Wolves vs Chelsea at Molineux Stadium has been earmarked for such an amendment. If confirmed, it will be the first English top-flight fixture played on Christmas Eve since 1995.

The social media reaction so far has been predominantly negative from both sets of supporters – particularly from Chelsea fans – as travel disruption is typically rife on Christmas Eve. Scheduling plans and revised kick-off times are set to be finalised by the close of play this Friday, offering a little more clarity for everyone involved.
