Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered their third defeat of the Premier League campaign this afternoon as they were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City.

Bruno Lage’s side headed into the match unbeaten in their last three but faced a huge task of stopping the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

Their clean sheet certainly didn’t last long however, with Jack Grealish scoring a tap-in less than a minute after kick-off before Haaland doubled their lead.

Things quickly went from bad to worse for Wolves as Nathan Collins was shown a straight red card on the half an hour mark as he left Grealish in a pile on the floor.

The defender pled his innocence to the referee, however replays showed a ‘karate-kick’ type tackle into the Man City star’s stomach that left him needing treatment.

Collins’ dismissal certainly didn’t help Wolves case and they went onto concede a third goal in the second half.

Despite fans at Molineux booing both Grealish and the ref, Wolves supporters on social media have made their frustration towards the tackle clear.

Here is how they reacted on Twitter...

• @stewiepaul - A challenge? Wouldn’t be outta place in a Jackie Chan movie

• @mitchdavis_1 - ‘Red card but I guarantee if that’s the other way around he shows a yellow or VAR overturn it

• @samuelhomerdls - Defo red but ref’s lost his head and control of the game

• @OriginalBison - And you just know that Lage never makes a substitution until the 75th minute, even if you’ve had a central defender sent off!

• @Diggerdagger22 - No way he’s complaining to the ref about that

• @CodyUFC99 - Against a team like City it’s not worth making tackles like that, unfortunate but what else can you expect coming up against a side like them. Move on and improve, unlucky Nathan

• @ZeWolf2000 - It’s a red card but I want Bruno gone, not Collins

• @YaOwldDa - Should have signed for the UFC and not WWFC

• @MilanZak6 - What an absolutely idiotic challenge. What was he doing?

• @Jacques21716306 - We are a shambles.

• @JackCas_ - This is embarrassing lads
