Pundit reveals why he's tipping Wolves to taste Premier League defeat vs Brighton

Wolves are hoping to make it five wins from their previous seven Premier League games against Brighton this weekend

Chris Sutton believes home advantage will help Brighton overcome Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

A resurgent Wolves side have won four of their last six Premier League fixtures to move within touching distance of the top 10. Gary O’Neil’s men also dumped Brentford out of the FA Cup with a thrilling 3-2 victory in their third-round replay.

They travel to Brighton aiming to take another top-flight scalp, with the Seagulls emerging as the division’s surprise package in recent years. Wolves know a win would move them level with Brighton, who sit eighth.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men have won just one of their last five Premier League outings and are targeting a win to get their European hopes back on track. Former Blackburn Rovers, Celtic and Chelsea striker Sutton expects Brighton to do exactly that - although he offered some hope for the visitors.

“This is a very hard one to call because both teams are in decent form,” he told BBC Sport. “As I've said previously, Brighton are yet to hit the heights of last season but they are still eighth and are still hard to beat.

“They have only lost one of their past six league games and, since the end of October, have suffered only two defeats in 16 games in all competitions. Wolves got past Brentford in the FA Cup in midweek and have won three in a row in the league.

“They are also organised and resilient and carry a goal threat too, which makes it difficult to know what to go with here. The fact Brighton are at home swung it in their favour for me but I would not be surprised if this ended up a draw too.”
