Millwall reportedly approached Gary O'Neil about possibly manage them just days after he was sacked by Wolves.
The 41-year-old was only relieved of his duties at Molineux on Sunday, but was sounded out about a possible swift return to management. Millwall went their separate ways with Neil Harris last week, and according to the Mirror, the South London club made an approach to O'Neil.

Hide AdThe consensus however from the talks is that is that it was too soon for O’Neil. He was only relieved of his duties last week, and Wolves have since moved to appoint Vitor Pereira as his successor.
The 41-year-old has only managed in the Premier League so far. He took on the reins at AFC Bournemouth in 2022, succeeding Scott Parker, and was then given the opportunity at Wolves. He has at least had some experience of coaching in the Championship having worked under Jonathan Woodgate at the Vitality Stadium.
As a player, a chunk of his career was spent in the second tier, playing for Portsmouth, Cardiff City, Middlesbrough, West Ham, QPR, Norwich, Bristol City, and Bolton Wanderers at that level.
It's expected that Millwall will hold further talks regarding the position next week. Former Preston North End and Stoke City boss Alex Neil has emerged as a strong contender for the job.

Hide AdMillwall have held talks with a number of candidates and is being considered along with Steven Schumacher, and Matt Bloomfield who currently has Wycombe Wanderers top of League One, despite the riches of Birmingham City and Wolves.
Richard Cawley of the South London Press reported that former Coventry City boss Mark Robins turned down Millwall. He wants a break after being sacked by Sky Blues following a long tenure in the West Midlands. In the mean time, Adam Barrett will oversee proceedings at The Den. They have games against Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City, Coventry City, and Oxford United to come.
