Denayer, 27, remains available following his departure from Lyon at the end of last season.

He continues to weigh up his next move in the game but according to a report by Het Nieuwsblad, his dealings with Wolves are not going anywhere at the moment.

The report claims the player has received offers over recent times but they have not been ‘good enough’ for him - either financially or he wants a better ‘sporting project’.

Latest update

In this latest update on this situation, Express and Star reporter Liam Keen has revealed that the Midlands club have now indeed ‘moved on’ from Denayer (see tweet below):

He has spent the past four years playing for Lyon and made 139 appearances for the French giants, chipping in with eight goals.

Prior to his move to Ligue 1, the centre-back played for the likes of Manchester City, Celtic, Galatasaray and Sunderland.

With Wolves seemingly pulling out signing him now, Denayer’s hunt for a new home continues.

“It’s a first-class club with very good players who know how to play football and having the chance to play in the Premier League again was the main thing.

“Obviously, the club influenced my decision, especially knowing I will be able to adapt a lot more easily here not only from a technical point of view, the quality of the players but also from the fact that a lot of the players are Portuguese and that will make my transition that much smoother.”
