Brentford winger Bryan Mbuemo suffered a 'bad' knock in the Bees' 2-1 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday evening and the Cameroonian international could be ruled out of their games against Aston Villa on December 17 and against Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 27 as a result.

Mbuemo scored Brentford's only goal of the game against Brighton with a spot kick - but he was withdrawn from the action just 13 minutes later with the player now expected to miss a number of weeks, although an exact timescale has not been given.

This could prove to be a massive boost to both Wolves and Villa if Mbuemo is unable to play against them. Brentford have scored 23 goals in the Premier League so far this season - Mbuemo has netted or assisted ten of them, meaning he is responsible for over a third of their goal contributions.

Without Mbuemo, the Bees' attacking threat will be greatly reduced but they can still call upon players such as Yoane Wissa, Neal Maupay and Matias Jensen to find the back of the net. Jensen's availability is currently in doubt - it's 50/50 as to whether he'll be able to play at the weekend against Sheffield United but he should be fit to play against Villa and Wolves.

What did Brentford manager Thomas Frank say about Bryan Mbuemo's injury?

On the extent of Mbuemo's injury, Brentford boss Thomas Frank said: "It is bad. He'll have a scan later, but we don't know the exact number of weeks he will be out. He will definitely not play on Saturday [against Sheffield United].

"His work rate for the team is incredible - you don't see many wingers who work so hard and mean so much [to their team]. He has become the key man - 'give me the ball, I'll take this'. Who will that man be now? We'll find out in the next weeks."
