Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Julen Lopetegui has given his honest verdict on winger Adama Traore amid speculation over his future. The Spanish forward, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona, sees his Wolves contract expire at the end of the current campaign.

Traore has only played 46% of the Premier League minutes available to him this season, scoring just one goal. It was a similar story at Barcelona, as the 26-year-old recorded two assists in just 11 La Liga matches.

Despite this, it is hoped Traore can revive his career at Molineux, with new manager Lopetegui hoping to keep him at the club. “I know Adama has not finished the contract - but the most important thing is he works hard here until June,” Lopetegui said via Fabrizio Romano. “After that, I don’t know what is going to happen. Of course, I would be very happy if he was here.”

Traore has recently been linked with a move away to fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. 90min reports Antonio Conte would like to sign a right wing-back with Djed Spence set to be loaned out and the likes of Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal out of favour.

Traore, who has been reluctant to sign a new contract with Wolves in the past, is one of those on Spurs’ radar, with Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters and Norwich’s Max Aarons also getting a mention.
