The Wolves ace has made an admission regarding where he sees his future.

Wolves full-back Ki-Jana Hoever has shed some light on his current situation at the club as he plays out his fourth loan away from Molineux. The 22-year-old signed for newly promoted Ligue 1 side Auxerre in August on a season-long loan deal.

Hoever has started six games for the French side so far this season and last campaign, he enjoyed a strong spell in the Championship with Stoke City. The Dutchman made 40 league appearances and contributed four goals and five assists along the way.

Hoever has expressed how all these loan moves have been beneficial for him in terms of getting valuable minutes under his belt. Speaking to GiveMeSport, the versatile defender discussed his latest move to Auxerre and how he is ‘catching up’ on lost time earlier in his career. However, he has also made an admission on his future given his current situation at Wolves.

"When I came here, everyone told me Auxerre was a family club and so many people have helped me settle in,” he said. “Of course, it is not always easy joining a team on loan. I'm just trying to enjoy it and learn everything I can to put in my ‘backpack’ and take on this football journey.

“I have been at a couple of clubs now on loan, and it’s just about playing a lot of games. When I started my career at 18, I didn’t play much, so now I am catching up.”

Hoever joined Wolves in 2020 after leaving Liverpool in a £10 million deal. The full-back had been tipped to become a real breakthrough talent at Anfield but after making just four senior appearances, he was eventually moved on.

Hoever has not featured for Wolves in two years and after embarking on four loan moves, he has admitted his conversations with the club over his future have been limited but there is uncertainty present. The Netherlands youth international also weighed in on his parent club’s poor start to the season.

“To be honest, I haven’t really spoken with anybody at Wolves. But they have a good squad and I like the coach. They've had a difficult schedule to start the season. Football is all about momentum, and when Wolves pick that up, they will start winning games. They have too much quality to be in this position.

"I have to focus on the things I can control, and that’s succeeding with Auxerre right now. Wolves just want me to develop as best I can. It was the right option to go out on loan because I realised I wasn’t getting that many chances at Wolves.

“I will do the best I can during my time here, and I still believe I can play in the Premier League. But in terms of Wolves, and my future there, I just don’t know. It’s not only what I think and want. It’s also what the club decides. I am just focused on Auxerre at the moment and after this season we can reevaluate and see what the future holds.”
