How the Premier League table without VAR would look for Aston Villa as Wolves lead vote to 'abolish' system

Where all 20 Premier League teams would sit in a league without VAR

Wolverhampton Wanderers have formally submitted a resolution to the Premier League which will see all 20 top-flight teams vote on the future of video assistant referees (VAR) and whether it will remain in place next season.

A statement by Wolves said: “There is no blame to be placed - we are all just looking for the best possible outcome for football - and all stakeholders have been working hard to try and make the introduction of additional technology a success. However, after five seasons of VAR in the Premier League, it is time for a constructive and critical debate on its future.

“Our position is that the price we are paying for a small increase in accuracy is at odds with the spirit of our game, and as a result, we should remove it from the 2024/25 season onwards.”

VAR has been used in the Premier League for five seasons, but has come under the microscope more times than ever this season.  Earlier in the campaign O’Neil rallied against VAR after his side’s 3-2 defeat to Fulham and in April after a loss against West Ham he described a decision against his team as ‘scandalous’.

But how would the Premier League landscape change if VAR was to be scrapped? Here we take a look at the full league table without VAR starting from the bottom and working our way up to the top.
