Matheus Cunha is expected to make Wolverhampton Wanderers' matchday squad away at Burnley in the Premier League, Gary O'Neil has confirmed.

The Brazilian has been unavailable since going off with a hamstring issue during the 2-0 home defeat to Brentford on February 10, just six days after he scored a hat-trick at Chelsea. Wolves have been ravaged by injuries with Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-chan out long-term. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde remains sidelined, too, while Craig Dawson faces a race against time for Tuesday.

Cunha's return is imminent, though, and he has an outside chance of making the starting lineup against the Clarets. "I think we'll see him on Tuesday, he'll definitely be in the matchday squad barring anything going wrong between now and then," O'Neil confirmed after the 2-0 loss at Aston Villa.

"He's miles ahead of schedule. When the scan results came through it was expected to be 10-12 weeks but it's been just over six and he's doing absolutely everything. He was knocking my door down to be involved in the Villa game but we have to make sure it's right.

"We have medical information telling us he shouldn't be ready yet but then we've got Matheus Cunha who looks ready and tells you he's ready. He's rang me about five times at 10 o'clock at night telling me how ready he is," O'Neil continued.
