Wolves put Rennes star on transfer radar as Cameroon international to solve major issue
Wolves reportedly have their eye on signing a Cameroon centre-back in the January transfer window.
Centre-back has been an area of concern for Wolves, and when the January transfer window opens, it could be an area that Gary O’Neil looks to strengthen in. Yerson Mosquera had been ruled out for the remainder of the season, and so defensive options are limited at the minute.

Hide AdSantiago Bueno, Toti Gomes, and Craig Dawson are the only three senior options that GON has at his disposal. Alfie Pond has been in and around the first-team, but Wolves are shipping goals with whichever partnership they choose from. Wolves have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this term, and so it appears those problems will need to be addressed.
According to TBR (The Boot Room), Wolves are looking at Rennes defender Christopher Wooh. Wooh is someone that Wolves have been 'keeping an eye on' but it's unclear how how far their interest goes, and how much he will cost.
He signed for Rennes from Lens in 2022 for a reported £8.5m, and so they would at least like to make some kind of profit on their investment. The 23-year-old has made 43 appearances for Stade Rennais since joining, and is their first choice centre-back. He has started six out of their last seven matches, keeping two clean sheets.
According to TransferMarkt, Wooh is under contract with the Breton club until the summer of 2026. Wolves have already looked to France for signings before, having signed Bastien Meupiyou, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde in recent seasons.

Hide AdWooh has been capped 16 times for the Cameroon national team, and appeared most recently against Kenya in a Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. He can call upon Man United's Andre Onana, Carlos Baleba of Brighton, and Brentford's Bryan Mbuemo his international teammates.
Joel Matip like Wooh played for the Cameroon national team, but he retired from international duty in 2015. He announced his retirement from club football earlier this month.
Matip was reportedly offered to Wolves’ after becoming a free agent following his release from Liverpool, but he wouldn’t have been able to have been registered until January anyway. The 33-year-old instead opted to hang up his boots and call time on his playing career.
